Russell Winter Airlifted To Hospital

It’s rare for people in the Great Britain to get into surfing. With some of the most depressing weather all year round and really crappy waves, it’s not surprising most people would rather spend their time watching football and listening to melodramatic rock ballads with a pint in their hands (it’s okay, my favorite music is from England).

So it’s pretty sad to see one of England’s boldest people and possibly one of the country’s only tan citizen being airlifted to Royal Cornwall Hospital on Wednesday. Russell Winter, who is most popular for being the only British surfer EVER to make the World Championship Tour and for beating Kelly Slater in a first round heat in Hawaii, broke his wrist while surfing off the Cornish coast. That’s just tragic because Winter had just recently recovered from a serious ankle injury and started competing again.

But don’t worry Winter, you have all of Britain’s surf community behind you.
