Do You Know Who Took This Picture?
May 6, 2008 – 3:19 pm PT by GregTags: Kelly Slater —
It happens all the time on the Internet. Photos get copied and used on multiple websites and the original photographer doesn’t get credit (and, lo and behold, doesn’t get paid if it’s not cleared for use).
It’s a big issue and sometimes sites can’t help it (talking from experience here) if they are given a photo to use and it doesn’t have a credit on it.
So when someone wants to find out who took a photo so that photog can get paid what they deserve for its use, well, that’s cool. Here at Lat34 we sometimes get emails from people looking for photographer info so we’re happy to help out in this case.
All that said and done, if you know who took the black and white portrait of Kelly Slater that is at the top of this post, contact Phil Jarratt at info@surfersvillage.com. He wants to use it in a book and wants to find the photographer. Read more about it here.
Looks similar to this set of photos, but I don’t think it’s the same…
