Upsets At The Local Motion Guaruja Surf Pro

The first day of action for the 5-Star Local Motion Guaruja Surf Pro took place today after two days of rain at Pitangueiras Beach Brazil with surf at about three to four feet. There were two major upsets with the current number one and two positions on the ASP points board eliminated. Hizunome Bettero of Brazil and Patrick Gudauskas of the United States were both upset in the first round leaving both their ASP point positions vulnerable.
“I couldn’t surf,” Bettero said. “The best waves were running away from me. I got a couple average scores and try some aerials, but I failed, competition is like that. Some days you can’t catch the waves and there’s nothing that I can do. That’s alright, there’s many contests coming up and I’ll keep concentrating, I cannot lose the focus. I just need to change my old boards, it’s done already, and God will help me to get onto the ASP World Tour.”
