It was a nice solid day of surfing with two to three foot waves at the ASP World Qualifying Series 6-Star Mr. Price Pro in Durban, South Africa. It was the Aussies and the Brazilians who lead the charge at event. ASP rookie Yadin Nicol of Australia lead the charge of 144 surfers with a great an innovative performance on day 2. Nicol’s both scores of a 9.33 and a 9.00 resulted with him at the top of the leader board.
“It’s always good to get such big scores, but it’s luck though – whoever catches those waves is going to get a good score,” Nicol said. “I was just lucky to get two. Durban usually produces pretty good waves and it’s one of my favorite spots, I’d say.”
Former ASP World Junior Champion Pedro Henrique also stunned the judges by scoring a 9.17 and an 8.60 and solidified a place in the round of 96.
