eS Rick McCrank Avers “ I Heart Lee Matasi” Collaboration

Rick McCrank and eS Footwear are putting out the “I Heart Lee Matasi” collaboration shoe. Lee Matasi was a Vancouver native and a great leader in the skateboard art scene. On December 2, 2005, Lee Matasi was murdered at a local bar in senseless act of violence. To show support for Lee Matasi, Rick McCrank and eS Footwear will be donating proceeds from the shoe to the Lee Matasi Foundation founded in his honor.
“This shoe is a tribute to the life of Lee “Avers” Matasi…a friend, skater, artist, inspiration and one of a kind individual”, says McCrank.
Just to get an idea of how great Lee Matasi was, when skateboarders needed a location to skate in Vancouver, Lee took on the responsibility to organize a group at the grassroots level to build a skate park underneath a deserted tunnel. There were no city ordinance, construction contractors, but only skateboarder who grouped together to create what is now known as Lee Side Park.
