AST Dew Tour to Webcast Skate Park Finals From Cleveland

This isn’t exactly “breaking” news but it is good news for fans of Skate Park fans who thought they might have missed out on seeing the AST Dew Tour’s Right Guard Open finals in Cleveland because it wasn’t being televised.
Normally the AST shows four or five events in the four televised shows (two on NBC, two on USA) but at least one sport always gets the shaft. This time FMX will be a demo-only and Skate Park will get a webcast. I’m pretty sure last year Cleveland was webcast, too, and it was a good show. This year you can see if Ryan Sheckler will let his broken arm interfere with his goal of clinching five straight contests and a fourth Dew Cup.
The webcast will take place on Saturday, July 19 from 1-2 pm ET and can be watched on AST.com and NBCSports.com. We’ll be watching, too , and let know what happens if you can’t make it.

AST AND NBC SPORTS TO STREAM LIVE SKATE PARK FINALS FROM RIGHT GUARD OPEN IN CLEVELAND

NEW YORK – July 11, 2008 – The AST Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, today announced that the Right Guard Open Skateboard Park Finals will be streamed live on Saturday, July 19 from 1–2 p.m. ET. The finals will be available exclusively on AST.com and NBCSports.com.
As the Tour moves to the second stop of the season, fans can see top riders Ryan Sheckler, Paul Rodriguez, Chaz Ortiz and all the other stars of skateboard park battle it out for the top podium spot on AST.com and NBCSports.com.
“We are excited to provide a live stream of the skateboard park finals to our fans,” said Wade Martin, AST President. “As we continually look for new ways to provide content to our audience, the live stream of such a popular event will give fans another way to see their favorite athletes in action.”
In addition, NBC Sports will televise the Skateboard Vert Finals on Saturday, July 20 from 4-6 p.m. ET and the BMX Park Final on Sunday, July 21 from 4:30-6 p.m. ET.
Currently in its fourth year, the AST Dew Tour is the most watched and attended action sports property in the world. Attendance for the 2007 AST Dew Tour totaled nearly 300,000 and an average of 41 million viewers tuned in via NBC and USA each year. The top athletes in the world will take part in this year’s Tour, all competing for the highly coveted Dew Cup that will be awarded in Orlando at season’s end to champions in each of the six disciplines. The 2007 Dew Cup winners include Nate Adams (Freestyle Motocross), Jamie Bestwick (BMX Vert), Ryan Nyquist (BMX Dirt), Daniel Dhers (BMX Park), Shaun White (Skateboard Vert) and Ryan Sheckler (Skateboard Park).
