The Ferrari Skateboard

Everyone should start off with a beater skateboard before taking it seriously. Skating can be pretty costly and keeping up with all the gear and hardware can put a damper on a kid’s allowance. I can vividly remember my very first skateboard. It wasn’t really a professionally made skate but it was a swap meet Bruce Lee complete with all the essentials. Plastic rail slide grips, sand paper grip tape, plastic made wheels, a nose protector, and gnarly pictures of Bruce Lee holding his nun chucks. It was awesome and the best thing about it was it only cost me $13 at the time. On the other hand, the board wouldn’t role more than five feet when I pushed off, and the deck was made from one big piece of wood so there were cracks up and down the board. I wasn’t good enough to break it but my brother was. It’s after those beater boards break when people cheap enough to buy those in the first place usually move on to proper skateboards that cost a little more.
Luckily Ferrari put out their very first beater skateboard and guess what, it only cost about $175. The Ferrari skateboard features a seven-layer Canadian maple board and stretches 79 cm by 20 cm. The Grip Tape on the upper surface (with Ferrari logo) is coated in an anti-slip material to improve grip. A stunning Ferrari red finish, the Italian tricolor and the Prancing Horse logo adorn the underside. The skateboard also has black 54 x 36 mm polyurethane wheels custom molded with a red stripe. The Ferrari skateboard comes in a stylish red nylon carry bag too.
I can’t wait to see who ends up riding for Ferrari. Maybe they will take some of the guys sponsored by Comme De Garcons, or even sponsor Pharrell. It just makes me think how far the beater skateboard has come and I’m glad that Ferrari is raising the standard on skateboards.
