Next week, Tuesday July 29th,  Ryan Sheckler will be broadening his horizons in two ways.  One, giving back to the community and two, by holding a golf tournament to do so.  While most teenagers (he is a teen right?) are worrying about what dress to wear to the prom, or how to be a top friend on the popular kids’ Myspace page, Ryan has felt it necessary to make the rest of you look bad, by giving back to the community.  The same community that at one time gave so much to him.

“I’ve always had a desire to help the kids who support me in my career and may not have had the same opportunities that I did,” said the X Games multi-gold medalist, Ryan Sheckler. “I have reached a point where I have the ability to give back, and I’m honored to have such a great response for this tournament from my professional colleagues and friends.”

I’m not exactly sure who will be part of the golf tourney except for one person who also happens to be one of my favorite rappers.  Kevin Federline, or K-Fed.  If you don’t believe me about how great a lyricist he is, then watch this.  Hope you enjoyed that.  Hopefully one day Ryan will put together a video part and K-Fed will rap over it.  That’d be so sick.  Anyway, read this press release for more info.

Together with Wasserman Media Group, pro skateboarder Ryan Sheckler will host the debut of the Ryan Sheckler X Games Celebrity Skins Classic to be held Tuesday, July 29, at the Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verdes, California as part of the mission of Sheckler’s non-profit organization, The Sheckler Foundation. In addition to Sheckler’s foundation, four other charities will be benefiting from the proceeds of the tournament. ESPN has been involved with and supported all four charities over the years. As part of this event, ESPN will be donating its skins to the Athlete Recovery Fund.

Celebrities and their foursomes will tee off for an18-hole tournament and players will be pitted against one another in match play for the opportunity to win a $10,000 skin for the charity of their choice on each hole. Players will also take part in a putting contest for additional prizes with an awards ceremony and dinner to follow in the evening.

“We have been fortunate to have Ryan Sheckler compete in the X Games since 2003, and we’re excited to partner with him and the Wasserman Media Group to benefit a number of charities devoted specifically to action sports,” said Chris Stiepock, general manager and vice president, X Games franchise. “We look forward to growing this tournament into an annual X Games tradition for years to come.”
