The Honda U.S. Open of Surfing presented by O’Neill continued today in Huntington Beach California with the remaining 144 surfers going at it.  Although the event takes place on U.S. soil, it was the international talent who received the highest point total today.  The best showing of the day was a head to head heat betwen Jadson Andre from Natal, Brazil, and Torrey Meister of Kona Hawaii who both presented the crown with nearly perfect rides.  But it was the Brazilian who really impressed by scoring a 9.23 in his round 2 heat and then followed it up with a perfect 10 out of 10 ride, which included an incredible high front side air.

“I felt really good today,” Andre said. “My waves at home are like this and I felt so relaxed. I’ve been here many times now and I love Huntington.”

Andre, current No. 73 on the ASP WQS, expressed his excitement about topping Meister’s impressive performance.

“I think this is the best heat of my life,” Andre said. “I’m so happy right now. All of the guys in my heat surf so good. I just want to do my best in the rest of the contest.”
