VOLCOM ANNOUNCES THE VOLCOM TOUR 2008 WITH MOTORHEAD, MISFITS, AIRBOURNE, VALIENT THORR AND YEAR LONG DISASTER

Volcom Tour 2008 is almost upon us! Making a considerable move up in venue sizes and the inclusion of “legend” status bands, this year’s tour kicks off September 2nd and will be headlined by Motörhead. This is Motörhead’s first U.S. headlining tour in 7 years that will feature support from the Misfits, Airbourne and two Volcom Entertainment artists, Valient Thorr and Year Long Disaster.

Motörhead is a name that stands on it’s own, a band that lives according to their own rules. A band that never sacrifices anything and has always remained true to what they are. Lemmy Kilmister, Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell - what you hear is what you get! They are without a doubt one of the most respected rock bands in the world and made it clear to everyone when, after two previous Grammy nominations, Motorhead finally received a well deserved Grammy in 2005. Motörizer, a meaty, dangerous rock record, will be Motörhead’s 24th album, scheduled for release on SPV Records on August 26. Motörizer delivers 11 brilliant brand new songs in a never before Motörhead variety, ready to rock the house. Says Mikkey Dee: “A kick ass motherfucking record - definitely one of the wider-ranged Motörhead records ever released.”

From its inception in 1983, the Misfits were primal. Their music was confrontational and dangerous with violent lyrics seen through the eyes of a monster. It was punk…all their own. Yet this aggression was complimented with a strong sense of melody, inspired by the roots of rock and roll as it was bred in the 1950s combined with an inspired fixation on classic B horror films. Long before “Gothic Rock” clambered out of its casket, the Misfits cast an aura of mystery embodied by ghoulish charm, and landed themselves a massive cult following known as the Fiend Club. These “Fiends” (as their fans are known) continue to multiply globally and also includes bands like Metallica, Green Day and My Chemical Romance. Boasting a massive catalog of music old and new, and an influence felt around the world, Misfits, fronted by Jerry Only  (Bass/Vocals) with Black Flag alum Dez Cadena on guitar and original Misfits drummer Robo, is selling out  shows and drawing thousands of fans  night after night and generating  more interest today than ever before. The nightmare continues!

“Stand Up For Rock n’ Roll.” It is as clear a statement of intent as you’re ever likely to hear. One verse that says everything you need to know about Melbourne, AU four piece Airbourne and their debut album, Runnin’ Wild: forget your worries, get down to the front of the stage and lose your mind to some ear-bleeding, sweat-soaked rock n’roll. Or, as the song continues, “Drink your beer/Drink your wine/Let’s have a good time.”  Stand up for rock n’ roll indeed.  From the album’s fist-pumping title track to the anthemic “What’s Eatin’ You” and the self-explanatory rock explosions of “Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast” and “Diamond In The Rough,” Runnin’ Wild is an exercise in booze-and-sweat soaked rock n’ roll that isn’t looking to change the world by abolishing Free Trade, but simply provide the ultimate soundtrack to the biggest all-night rock party there is.

Intergalactic rock n’ roll saviors Valient Thorr will be continuing to support their recently released latest masterpiece, IMMORTALIZER, on Volcom Entertainment. The new record – the band’s fourth in five years – has been garnering lots of critical praise, Outburn called IMMORTALIZER a “tour de force of heavy riffs, addictive grooves, and full on positive vibes” and Alternative Press says ” the MC5 did it pretty well back in 1970, but Valient Thorr do it just as strong”.  Valient Thorr are currently headlining a U.S. tour with Early Man, Monotonix and Skeleton Witch in tow.

Year Long Disaster, the three-piece blues-based rock band of Daniel Davies (son of Dave Davies from The Kinks), Rich Mullins (Karma to Burn, Speedealer) and Brad Hargreaves (Third Eye Blind) are currently supporting Foo Fighters on their U.S. tour.  Since the release of their eponymous debut on Volcom Entertainment, Year Long Disaster have consistently received critical acclaim, including Rolling Stone magazine heralding YLD as one of 2008’s Best New Bands in their annual 10 Artists to Watch feature, and have brought their formidable live show to thousands across the globe.
