I’m so into the idea of playing God when it comes to nature and its functions.  When I was little, used to do all sorts of what I thought back then as “Radical” experiments.  I don’t mean radical like Mario Lopez’s hair in “Saved By The Bell”, but radical meaning a revolutionary type of an idea.  It started way back when I attempted to make a lizard and a bee mate to create The Amazing Killer Bee-Lizard.  Ironically, they peacefully coexisted in my homemade bughouse but the Lizard eventually died.

As I got older, I realized I’m not the only one trying to play God.  Just look at what’s going on over in Dubai with “The World”:  A cluster of man-made islands in the shape of the world we live in.  Things like this just make things so much more convenient.  Imagine what Raging Waters would be like without the man-made Wave Pool. Or how about an escalating number of indoor snowboard/ski parks popping up all over the world.  Now the only thing missing is a man-made that’s fully operational.  But I guess scientists have learned their lesson after watching Edward Scissorhands

And just like Edward, there are costly and potentially disastrous side effects from playing God.  Look at the good people of the South Bay in California.  They thought that it would be possible to create waves in the ocean by making a man-made reef to attract surfers from all over the world.  The ten year project proved to be unsuccessful.  But don’t worry surfers, Raging Waters is still open for business.  Go to the Contra Costa Times to read all about the Reef.
