Hey all you graffiti writers, taggers, hoodlums, mischievous doers, and vandals. Are you tired of hanging out at run down train stations, back alleyways, freeway bridges etc. with hobos, crack heads, bums, and trolls? Sure many artists live strange and obscure lives (Van Gogh, Warhol, Bob Ross), but I’m sure you probably get sick of it. Especially to have your artwork that you spent hard earned hours and hard earned money in supplies just to have it sand blasted the following week. It sucks huh?
Now’s your chance to show what you got. Graffiti has been slowly getting into the main stream ever since Christina Aguilera introduced it to us in her music videos. Adikted Apparel, a newly created clothing line, announces their upcoming Adikted 2 Art Graffiti Event to be held on Friday, October 3rd, 7:30 PM at Cury’s Sport Shop in Ramsey, NJ. Read the press release below to get all the info on how to share your art with the world.
Adikted Apparel was founded by local Montvale natives Bill Cury Jr., Chris Cury and Doug Fowler. “Our inspiration comes from working in the retail sporting goods industry at family owned Cury’s Sport Shop and a passion for sports and fashion” said Chris Cury.
The team wanted to introduce their newly launched brand by hosting an event that offers a blend of sports, music and art. The Adikted 2 Art Event will be open to the public to celebrate the spirit of Adikted Apparel brand.
Graffiti artists will gather for a special outdoor contest where the final pieces of art will be placed throughout the Snowboard Shop for the season and auctioned off in the spring. The proceeds of the auction will benefit Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC). B4BC is a non-profit youth-focused education foundation whose mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and that value of an active lifestyle. “We have all known someone who has been affected by breast cancer and wanted to build a greater awareness of a charity that supports it within our industry” said Chris Cury.
In addition, Adikted 2 Art will offer guests the opportunity to practice on a graffiti wall, listen to live music, enjoy refreshments and catch a sneak peak at the new Adikted Apparel line. Additional sponsors include: Red Bull, Burton Snowboards, Sabrett Hotdogs, Artprimo.com, Day in the Lyfe Graffiti Magazine and Cury’s Sport Shop.
