10-Year Anniversary At The Vans Skatepark
November 8, 2008 – 2:08 am PT by MikeTags: Vans Skatepark —
I can remember the first time my friends and I first went to the Vans Skatepark at The Block in Orange County. We were still skating everyday. We were wet behind the ears. And we were still virgins. The most surprising of all, we still had the audacity to step foot into the OC (sorry OC people). Upon arriving to the skatepark our jaws dropped at the scale of the skatepark. I think the only place we saw a place that big were in videos like Woodward or the Santa Barbara Skatepark.
Ten years later, the Vans Park is still open and replaced by big baggy pants are crotch tight spray painted on jeans. Flat brimmed hats have been replaced with hair that looks like it hasn’t been washed in 3 weeks. And instead of Pennywise playing ”Bro Hymn” in the background is now replaced with Avrile Levigne’s “Skater Boi”.
They are celebrating their anniversary tomorrow, Saturday November 8th with delicious food from Doren’s Famous BBQ. The park will also be open for a free demo with plenty of giveaways, and best trick contests. Check out the flyer below for more info and be there to celebrate this special event.
