What would this world be like without the likes of Perez Hilton? Actually I don’t know anyone like him nor have I known anyone to be like him. He’s pretty much an enigmatic presence in the world of Hollywood. And what a distinguished talent he has for drawing WHITE MARKS on people’s faces.

I’m pretty certain that 90% of you get your celebrity gossip from the Queen himself. But because he was busy today with a photo shoot entitled “THREE QUARTER MODEL” with a famous Hollywood photographer, I think he didn’t have enough time to post this story. But luckily for all you “The Hills”/BMX riders, I found this interview on STAR Magazine for your reading pleasure.

Apparently Audrina from The Hills was dating BMX rider Corey Bohan but she ended up dumping him. That is totally, like, oh my gawd! What a shame too because the pair of them would have been great for a double date with KELLY OSBOURNE and LUKE HOWELL. I would have given you more inside scoop on the interview but I was too busy watching the grass grow outside.

My favorite part was listening to TJ Lavin and Jamie Bestwick debate what people should have been scored or how a run went down. Classic. While you won’t hear that in the video below, you will get to see some highlights…

Dennis Enarson won the PlayStation Pro BMX dirt contest on Saturday in Orlando, but it was Aussie Cameron White who took the top prize for the year: the Dew Cup.

Corey Bohan, who came into the day third in the Dew Cup race, pushed hard and ended up second at the contest and second in the race after Luke Parslow, second in the Dew Cup standings, was unable to crack the top three.

Enarson won the contest thanks to two huge runs that gave him the top spot going into the third and final run. White was in first after one run but stumbled on his second, opening the door for the 17-year old from San Diego to grab his second win on the tour.

White came close to taking the Dew Cup in 2007 but lost it to Ryan Nyquist after crashing on his final run. This year, with the Dew Cup lead his going into Orlando, he had a comfortable lead and didn’t need to finish first to take home the overall honor which has a payout of $75K.

Veteran BMX rider Mike Aitken delivered again in his hometown of Salt Lake City and won the Toyota Challenge BMX Dirt contest, the fourth stop of five of the AST Dew Tour. Aitken made the podium here in 2007 but this year he was able to hold off Aussies Corey Bohan and Cameron White and take thw win. It marked the fourth straight AST contest with a different winner (Ryan Nyquist, Cameron White and Luke Parslow are the previous winners).

Bohan and White both scored a 91.92, but thanks to a higher second score Bohan took second-place. Top qualifier Dennis Enarson and last year’s Toyota Challenge winner James Foster rounded out the top five.

The course was radically different than most AST Dew Tour courses and was designed by Stephen Murray, who was paralyzed after crashing at the 2007 Panasonic Open in Baltimore. Tim “Fuzzy” Hall, a SLC local, built it.

Ryan Nyquist entered the day on top of the Dew Cup race but two crashes landed him in 11th place and in fourth-place in the Dew Cup standings, 27 points behind Cameron White. Luke Parslow and Corey Bohan are almost even with Nyquist.

The final stop in BMX Dirt for the 2008 AST Dew Tour takes place on Oct. 17 in Orlando.

Check out the full results below.

So for the second year in a row the amazing dirt contest in Portland was not shown on TV, leaving viewers with a precious few clips of some of the crazy stuff that went down. Here’s one of those clips…

Nastazio, Parslow, Bohan | cr. AST

Aussie Luke Parslow held off a strong comeback bid by veteran Cory “Nasty” Nastazio to take the BMX Dirt title at the Wendy’s Invitational in Portland, OR on Friday night. Going into his third and final run, Parslow was tied with Nasty before landing a huge run including a double backflip. Nasty, the top qualifier, fell on his final run giving Parslow the title. Fellow Aussie Corey Bohan was third.

The top three qualifiers were not in the running, with current Dew Cup points leader Ryan Nyquist finishing in sixth with a 90.25, tied with Rob Darden. Competition was fierce as six riders were seperated by less than one point from 2nd to 7th place. The win did push Parslow into third-place in the Dew Cup race, only 14 points behind Nyquist. At least six riders are still in the running for the Dew Cup and the picture should clear up at next month’s Toyota Challenge in Salt Lake City.

Corey Bohan Soars to New Heights

Corey Bohan (AUS) conquered one of the most insane BMX courses ever constructed, to be crowned winner of Red Bull Empire of Dirt 2008. It wasn’t easy: forty of the world’s best BMX riders descended on Devon and for the last two days have competed for one of the most desirable prizes in BMX: winner of the world’s first BMX dirt slopestyle competition. After last year’s was cancelled due to poor weather conditions, this year’s competition and course exceeded all expectations. 5,000 people negotiated the tight lanes, flocking to a small field to witness the gravity defying tricks on the 400m long dirt and wood course. From the very first practice session on Tuesday afternoon all the way through to today’s final the standard has been sky high… just like many of the tricks!

Yesterday 33 riders started the qualifiers and by the end of the day the number had been whittled down to an excited 16. The finals read like a who’s who of the BMX world. In the Super Final it came down to just four men, and after one spectacular run each it was Aussie powerhouse Corey Bohan (92.67) narrowly beating US legend Gary Young (91.00). Another Australian Dane Searle grabbed third with 90.67 with event creator and Devon-local hero Kye Forte taking the last spot on the podium with a score of 86 after crashing on this run.

Kye Forte said: “At this event I’m a rider and an event organiser so it was hard to juggle both, especially after qualifying first yesterday. On the start ramp, for the Super Final, there was a lot of pressure on me and I knew Corey, Gary and Dane were going to go full out to take top spot. I tried to step it up, took a risk, and crashed in my run but it was an amazing event and I’m really happy everyone had such a good time. It was rad.”

The construction of the Red Bull Empire of Dirt course took three months alone and it is the only one of its kind on the planet. The course required 10,000 tonnes of dirt to sculpt the huge dirt superpipe, massive double jumps, hip, wall rides, and the many other features which have never before been combined.

What a difference a month makes… Sometimes. The BMX Dirt Prelims in Cleveland for the Right Guard Open, the AST Dew Tour’s second stop, were a crazy affair Thursday but when it was all over Corey Bohan was sitting on top, right where he was last month in Baltimore. However, after Bohan, the picture shifted dramatically.

Six of the riders who made the finals last month missed the cut this time around, including Diogo Canina and Cory Nastazio, while several familiar faces moved back up, like Ryan Guettler, hoemtown hero Anthony Napolitan and Steve McCann.

Already set for the finals were last month’s top three: Ryan Nyquist, James Foster and Cameron White.

The finals go down tonight and will be broadcast with a slight delay on USA Network from 12-1 a.m.
Answer: Who the hell knows but there’s a good chance the answer is one.

Corey Bohan follows up his “Hills” appearance with an interview in the mag’s July ’08 issue. The questions are decidedly tame (Have you become a fan of any other American sports? Why did the X Games drop dirt?) but you’ve got to like this one:

Q: Are there groupies following the Dew Tour?

A: Yeah, for the most part. I’d like them to be a bit older, though. But there’s definitely a bunch of fans that ride around and follow the stops. So that’s pretty cool.

Hilarious.

Anyway, while we here at Lat34 think that Luke Parslow is the craziest Aussie BMX rider we know (though Ryan Guettler can be tight up there), it’s interesting to hear how Bohan ended up on the “Hills” and why he thinks Salt Lake is the best Dew Tour stop.

We won’t spoil it for you, though. Pick up the magazine and enjoy the other goodies.
