It’s Christmas Eve and you’re anticipating the moment you open your gifts that Santa left for you.  You already know what they are because you’ve been good all year.  Except for that time you got your nipple pierced, but nobody knows about that.  But what to do while you patiently wait for Christmas to roll around. 

Well you can get on your TV set and watch FUEL TV because DC’s Devun Walsh is taking over “The Daily Habit” tomorrow at 6 PM PST and 9 PM PST. You can catch additional episodes on December 25, 2008 at 11:30 AM PST and 2:30 PM PST.

On the show, Devun sits down to discuss his early days in snowboarding, the impact he’s made within the sport, and where his career has taken him today. Devun shares stories about being on the DC Snow Team and the fun times he’s had with Iikka, Lauri and Aaron. Plus, he talks about his new pro model DC snowboard, and gives a behind-the-scenes perspective of filming the “Enjoy the Ride More” commercials with Billy Mays.  Maybe he will inspire more presents for you to get.

There’s only one king in this city.  It’s not Burger King, The Kings Hockey Team, or the Lion King.  The one and only Nick Merlino assed out everyone else who wanted the honor and is now the 2008 King Of Los Angeles.  And now for all you amateurs, you can witness what went down and inspire yourself to take the crown for next year.  DC just posted some footage from the day’s event for you to indulge and get your inspiration.   Check it.  

DC held their very notable, very prestigious, and very sexist King Of LA event this past weekend. Just kidding about the sexist part but come on, let’s see some females take part of this competition. And if there were girls, I apologize I didn’t recognize you. The day started off at one Lockwood Ave Elementary and then continued over at Belmont High’s infamous nine stair and handrail.

Unfortunately, none of my picks for king won the contest. I had Burger King, Lion King, and Rodney King at the top of my King list but it was Nick Merlino who was crowned King of Los Angeles and took home a nice $1,000 prize as well. This event had to be one of the sickest gathering of unsponsored skaters of all time and I’m sure that through this and thanks to DC, many of these young lads will get the attention and sponsorships they deserve. Just watch this video. It’s insane what was going down.

Where would you be without today’s skate shoe?  Today’s skate shoe encompasses some of the most advanced technology you can find in any sneaker today.  Maybe except for the Roller Shoe.  Where would you be without the added stronger fibrous layers of a Nike SB.  Or the multidensity rubber and gel pocketed sole of a DC shoe?  And supposed you didn’t have the hidden pocket within the tongue where you can hide little baggies full of things like, you know Skittles. 

Well without yesterday’s skate sneaker, none of this would be supporting your feet now.  You would probably be wearing $15 ghetto boots from Wal-Mart, which aren’t that bad except they fall apart fast. 

Well Sneaker Freaker as usual is there to drop some knowledge on you with the History Of The Skate Shoe.  This first segment takes a comprehensive look at how it all started between the years of 1960 to 1985.  Most of you may not have even been born yet and if you were alive, you were probably still a zit-faced virgin.  Regardless, you should still read it.

Well maybe the most exciting king of Los Angeles is Vincent Alvarez who won DC’s “King Of Los Angeles” least year.  But he’s about to pass the throne over to a new lucky and heavily skilled Angelino who can throw it down above all who gets in his or her way. 

The very unique competition starts this October 18th.  Where will this all go down? Two places actually.  At 10AM, those who think they have what it takes will meet at the ever so famous Lockwood Elementary School.  Then the competition will continue at 3PM at Belmont High School for more gnarlyness.  There will be $10,000 in prize money awarded and more likely than not, have a bunch of companies go after the winner.   

After a long day of skating, I suggest we all go have a bite at Burger King to energize us for that night’s performance of “The Lion King” not at the Pantages, but at the West Hollywood Community Theater.  It will be so grand! 

Rob Dyrdek, PJ Ladd, Ryan Smith will be representing their shoe brand, DC Shoes, in New York City for a skate demo and an autograph signing.  The demo and team signing will take place at the Manhattan Skate park on Saturday August 23rd.  The demo is sponsored by CCS so check out the flyer for more info. 

The DC team will be showing the east coast some love by doing a demo in NYC on August 23rd.  If you’re that crazy about the DC crew and wish you could be there in the second best city in the world (first being Pomona, California) you’re in luck because everyone’s favorite skate catalogue CCS is holding a contest where the winner and a friend will be flown to the Big Apple to experience the demo first hand.  All expenses paid.

A lot of time goes into the production of skate commercials these days. Some companies incorporate special effects, others use creative story telling, and others just use aesthetically pleasing craft. I’m not sure what the Worrest eS shoe promo falls under.

In what is probably the oddest video promo for a skate shoe ever, Worrest X Krooked eS pro model has fancy written all over it. It probably doesn’t beat the original 90’s Duffs spots but this one is kind of odd. The ending is pretty disgusting; drinking wine out of shoe. Eh.

As for me, there are some pretty memorable skate sneaker spots that you have probably seen before. DC’s basketball spot features no skateboarding whatsoever but its viral video style makes it fun to watch over and over. Then you have a neat Nike SB spot with special green screen visual effects takes promos to a whole new level. Then of course there is my favorite skate sneaker spot. The Sketchers Commercial. After watching it, you will understand why I got into skating in the first place.
