Timmy Knuth is the Skate Park Free Flow Champ. cr. AST

A year ago Chaz Ortiz won the Free Flow Tour Skate Park finals and today he won his first pro contest. Two years ago, Mike Spinner won the BMX Park Free Flow Tour and one year later he won the pro contest in the same city.

So that bodes well for Timmy Knuth and Glenn Salyers, winners of the Skate Park and BMX Park Free Flow Tour Finals today.

In Skate Park, Knuth dominated the competition with second-place nearly nine points behind in scoring. Salyers had his hands full but managed to hold off Dan Norvell and Trey Jones for the win.

Both athletes will get to compete in the pro contest next month at Orlando’s PlayStation Pro.

Timmy Knuth Wins Skate Park and Glenn Salyers Wins BMX Park at Free Flow Tour Finals in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY – Timmy Knuth won the skate park event and Glenn Salyers won the BMX park event Saturday at the Free Flow Tour finals. The competition was held at the AST Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge.

The 17-year-old Knuth of Melbourne, Fla. achieved the skate park win by dominating the six-minute final jam session to earn an overall score of 90.00, landing a tre flip crooked over the rail to seal the victory. C.J. Dixon, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., followed with an 81.50 and Alex Longcamp, of Aurora, Ind., placed third with an 80.67.

“I’m very excited to win the Free Flow Tour,” Knuth said. “It was a great experience, and I can’t believe I won against such great skaters. It’s going to be amazing to compete in Orlando on the Dew Tour.”

In the Free Flow Tour’s BMX park finals, 21-year-old Salyers of Kokomo, Ind. used a flawless second run full of technical tricks – including a flair over the gap – to secure the win. Dan Norvell, of Clairmont, Calif., took second place with a 91.60, while Trey Jones, of Apopka, Fla., followed with a 90.67.

“Getting a chance like this is awesome,” Salyers said. “Now that I’ve won the Free Flow Tour, I’m going to ride more and learn some new tricks. I’m going to be ready to ride with the best when the PlayStation Pro comes next month.”

With the win, both Knuth and Salyers earn a wildcard entry into the AST Dew Tour’s PlayStation® Pro, October 16-19.

The Free Flow Tour finals are a part of the Toyota Challenge event, a four-day competition that is the fourth of five stops on the AST Dew Tour, which features skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross. The Sunday Free Flow Tour schedule concludes with the skate vert finals.

The Free Flow Tour consists of 50 events across the U.S. and features 30 skateboarding (24 park and six vert) and 20 BMX (16 park and four vert) competitions. Encompassing the ‘Flow to Pro’ theme, the two overall skate and BMX park champions and the two overall skate and BMX vert champions win a wild card spot to compete against the pros at the final stop of the AST Dew Tour, the PlayStation Pro®, in Orlando, Fla.
