Epicly Later’d is a great show and a huge asset to the VBS series.  Because of its highly personal and substantially interesting subject matter, anyone who has ever picked up a skateboard and took it seriously can relate directly to every single skater featured. 

This episode featuring Mike Carroll is goes beyond the subject of skateboarding.  In what is probably the most intense and most personal episode of Epicly Later’d to date, this show has hit a new level of documentary storytelling that the show has never seen before.  Watching some of this footage causes me to feel ill and almost guilty for watching something so personal. 

And this episode says a lot about how skateboarding can literally save a life from entering complete destruction.   About how it’s an escape for thousands of kids who have nowhere else to turn, but to the camaraderie with friends that comes with the lifestyle by which they become the only family a skater can have.  Can relate to this one big time.  Great episode. 

It seems like pro skaters are at skate shops (particularly Active) almost every other day.  I have a theory that these guys who are under contract might be like slaves.  You can’t beat corporate America.  I have noticed thought that there aren’t as many team signings though.  I think the skaters’ hands were close to coming off. 

Anyway two of the sickest dudes in the world are scheduled for a meet and greet at the Active in Chino Hills on Wednesday, December 3rd at 7 PM.  Generally, skating doesn’t get any better than these guys. 

Also, check out the Day in the Life of Billy Marks over at TRANSWORLD.  I didn’t know that Billy lives in Corona.  That’s dope.  Corona is the Diamond of the Inland Empire.  And the AROMA is nice there too. 

Well Patrick O’Dell from Epicly Later’d documented the Cinema Paradiso inspired premiere party with his photo camera and shared the pics on an Epicly Later’d site.  From the looks of things, the movie was a success.  Not to mention Patrick’s photos.

These two heavy weights will be doing a signing at Active in Valencia California.  The signing takes place on Sunday October 12th from 2PM – 4PM.  This should be a fun one.  While there, maybe pick up a new Girl deck or possibly some Lakai’s because they are on sale.  So stock up!

Do you remember when we got a sneak peak into Girl Skateboards Distribution offices in Torrance California? It was awesome. They called the video G-DOV for “Girl Distribution Orientation Video”. It gave an exciting perspective to the world of corporate wheelin and dealin within one of the biggest skate brands in the world. After watching the clip, what you preconceived about skaters was most likely way off. You didn’t know that super stars like Eric Koston were actually janitors within their own company. Or that Chico Brenes and Alex Olsen handle the company’s funds. Amazing.

Anyway, Stereo has graced us with their own video. I’m not sure if they make as much money as Girl but that might have to do with the fact that their CEO Chris Pastras is always yelling at his employees. It must be a rough atmosphere working for a boss like that.

So check out these videos if you think you can tough it out for one of these major brands. You would be swimming with sharks.

Can you imagine going on a tour with say, Black Sabbath and The Beatles?  Or if that’s too old for you, how about Ryan Cabrera and Lil Bow Wow?  I’m not sure if those were the best analogies but Patrick O’Dell was fortunate enough to be invited on the Girl X Antihero “Beauty And The Beast” skateboard tour.  Those two teams are as opposite as they come so I’m sure Patrick was able to capture some amazing stuff.

“This spring I went on probably the heaviest skateboarding tour I will ever go on, as far as the presence of legendary skaters goes. The Girl and Antihero teams decided to do a two-week tour of the Northwest, camping and skating every day. I went along to film it for VBS.TV. I couldn’t believe I was even there to see such amazing skating.

PS: As you will soon see, a ‘wizard staff’ is when you finish a beer and tape it underneath your next beer. As you drink more beers, the staff grows. You become a wizard when the staff is taller than you.”

Hopefully with all that amazing footage, maybe when Ryan Cabrera and Lil Bow Wow decide to tour together, they will invite Patrick to come along.

If you’re up to it and you still have your fingers left after the 4th of July holiday, you should go to one of three Actives playing host to the Girl and Chocolate teams.  They are calling the mini one-day tour a Menage A Active.  Not sure if I want to know where they came up with that name but nonetheless, it involves two awesome team and prince of skate shops.  Number one will always be Shut Up And Skate on La Brea in my book. 

The three southern California Active locations taking part of this July 6th tour are Active Brea, Active San Dimas, and Active Rancho Cucahmonga.  All three of these locations are relatively close so if you want to be as creepy as this Menage A Active, you can follow the teams to all three locations.

Just imagine this.  It’s 110 degrees outside plus the air is dry and scorching hot.  You’re outside skating in the middle of the day with all of your friends.  But guess what, evening rolls around and one of skateboarding’s most consistent and technical pros shows up to celebrate his induction to the world of professional skateboarding.  And because of the heat, he thoughtfully brings something to quench and satisfy that thirst you’ve acquired from being outside all day.  Kool Aid?  Nope.  Gatorade?  Wrong.  He will be bringing those delicious, delectable, succulent chili cheese dogs from Weinerschnitzel!  Yum!  This is all thanks to Mike Mo and his professional status with Girl Skateboards.
