Local riders stood out Thursday at the Slopestyle qualifiers for the Burton New Zealand Open. Kiwi representatives took four of the 15 qualifying spots led by Nick Brown and Nick Hyne, though it was Sam Hubert from the USA who led the field.

A large field of competitors lined up Wednesday at the Burton New Zealand Open to battle for a spot in the halfpipe semi-finals later this week. When it was all said and done the USA's Brennen Swanson led the men while China's Jiayu Liu led the field for the women.
