Twenty-seven year old Nikita team rider Lisz Filzmoser from Innsbruck Austria is one of snowboarding’ finest female snowboarders.  She is a very versatile rider who takes on everything and anything with powder being her favorite.  Lisa’s career has taken her all over the world with countless opportunities to travel.  The new season of Nikita gear is out soon and Lisa was proud to model.  Check it out on the Nikita Site.  Below is an interview conducted by her boyfriend Alvaro.

Do you hook up more boys by wearing Nikita?
Sure and more girls too… juuust kidding. No, I think Nikita has just the perfect clothing for me. It is super comfy and the style is unique. The new catalogue shows so many different styles too and they also use graphics from different artists. And I think it is so good to see not only models in the catalogue, they always use their teamriders for the fashion shoots. Heida, Runar and the whole Nikita crew, you guys rock!

What makes you laugh and what makes you cry?
The hair of my boyfriend makes me definitely laugh. He has those really thin curls, and they always turn out different or weird. Sometimes they can also look really good. But they can also look really frizzly and then he looks like an anitque prince. Haha. And his bad jokes can make me also laugh but sometimes cry too.

What inspires you?
That’s not that easy to answer, ’cause there is so much, that inspires me. First the whole invironment around me, my friends, my family, travelling, music, photos, paintings, nature,…

Right or left?
I am regular, right hander, and I can turn right and left…. that´s a pretty amazing fact, isnt it?

I think that this contest is exclusive to females but I urge you male rights activist to protest this decision for equal rights for all.  Let Nikita know that male snowboarders are just as talented at making a clip as the females.  Anyway, just like Poland’s Kasia Kwiecien did in  the last contest, rent a camera and a friend to start filming your hot skills.  Kasia did just that and won herself a trip to Iceland to hang out with the Nikita crew. 

Kasia said, “I am sure it was the best trip of my life!! I’d like to thank all the Nikita crew, people who voted for me and my friend Aram who was patient while recording me.”

Nikita judges will pick the winner from the highest rated clips on Nikita’s YouTube site and will be invited to Iceland to ride the glacier amongst other arctic adventures with the Nikita crew. Oh yes, be ready to head to the mysterious land of lore in the luscious springtime of 2009. You have all winter to work on this and get your clips in before the 30th March 2009 deadline.

To enter all you have to do is:
· Be a chick!
· Be 18 years of age or over
· Enter snowboard clips ONLY please – as long as there is some sort of snowboard action, the Nikita panel of judges will accept it
· Maximum of 3 clips per person
· Clips can be as long or short as you want as long as they don’t exceed the size limit
· Maximum size of clips is 5 MB
· Accept that all entries sent in will be put on Nikita’s YouTube contest site, Nikita’s Mpora and Vimeo channels
· Send in your entries to internis@nikitaclothing.com before 30th March 2009

In a time when female leaders in this country are far and few between, especially in the mainstream media, I think it’s time to boost the morale of our “sistas” and highlight those who are actually doing something positive.  Instead of listening to preposterous statements like, “I can see Russia from my house”; I think we should sit back and listen to those who have something relevant to say.  Instead of looking at celebrity party girls in tacky photographs in the tabloid magazines, I think we should be looking at the photographs of talented young women behind the lens instead. 

Nikita just celebrated their second annual Photo Shoot Contest and with no surprise, they saw a boost in entrants.  About 65% more entries than last year as a matter of fact.  Nikita received three hundred entries from girls all across the world, snapping themselves for a chance to win a place on the Fall Winter 09/10 Nikita streetwear photoshoot.  A few words from Nikita…

“Nikita founder and head designer Heida was among the judges who spent a considerable amount of time checking out each and every entry sent in.  A BIG thanks should go to all the girls who took the time to enter.  The final decisions have been made and there are two girls who are going to be on their way with the Nikita crew to the photoshoot in October.  These two ladies made a big impression with the judges, who are just as excited to meet them and have them join in.  And the winners are…(drum roll please..)..”

Have you ever seen that movie “The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants”?  I saw it one Saturday morning on HBO after a long night of partying so I barely had the energy to change the channel.  But I know if you’ve seen it you probably cried; don’t lie.  It’s about four girls who go there seperate ways for summer break and promise to keep a pair of good luck pants within their group of friends.  It’s almost like when you and your friends shared those Star Wars figures but this story deals with the ups and downs of teenage life and female bonding.

Well without having to read this article, I already know that this trip is something like the Traveling Pants movie.    A few months ago,  put together a contest for three lucky girls to win a trip to Iceland along with a week long of awesome snowboarding.  Just look at the photos.  They look like they are having a great time, there’s is some valuable girl time bonding, and I’m sure they all learned a lot about themselves.  I think most of us can learn something from this.  Check it!

US skater Kelly Dunn joins Nikita

Nikita is happy to announce Kelly Dunn to the Nikita family. Kelly, 17, is a skateboarder born and raised in Ledyard, CN. She enjoys pushing around Groton skatepark but has ambitions to travel and skate anywhere she can.

When she’s not skating she loves playing the drums and has an obsession with collecting anything to do with the Beatles. Recently she’s been teaching skate lessons to young kiddos and hopes to instruct at an all girl’s skate camp this summer.

How does Kelly feel about joining the Nikita team?

“So, so, so super stoked. It’s such an awesome opportunity for me and I’m excited to represent and ride for the company to the fullest!”

And how does Nikita feel about adding Kelly to the team?

“It’s awesome. Kelly is super communicative and a rad young lady. It’s great to have another sweet skateboard girl on the team out there. I look forward to working with her and helping her achieve her goals and making sure she’s having fun”, says Nikita’s US Marketing Manager, Kelly Stoecklein.

Keep your eyes out for this new skate talent.

Around this time last year Ana Rumina of Croatia came close to standing on the winners podium finishing 4th place in the finals but this year she was the clear winner with a nice smooth run with consisting of a backside 180, frontside 360 indy, and a frontside 360 on the wall, not to mention she being the only boarder to do something off the tree.  Not only did she win first place, she also earned herself 1,000 Euros and a coveted Nikita contract for one year.

“I think I first found out about Nikita Chickita on the Internet last year and four of my friends were ready to go straight away. Last year’s contest was the most fun one I’ve ever been on, so I decided to come back again this year” Ana said. 

“Nikita Chickita is still my favorite contest. I wouldn’t even call it a contest, it’s more like a gathering for the girls who want to have fun, ride and show each other what’s new in the female snowboard world.”
