Everyone loves the 80’s. Who doesn’t love that decade? The music was awfully awesome, the films were carefree and light, and the style. You can’t beat the style. Everything from the JHERI CURL to the PANTS was fresh and that decade can never be duplicated again. Even people who weren’t born in the 80’s love the 80’s. Just look at all these skate rats with long hair and tight pants. The 80’s was the decade when words like brah, gnarly, and bodacious was born.

Quiksilver All 80’s Vert Jam just went down this past weekend and it was a who’s who of 80’s skateboarding. Back then, skateboarding took on a life of its own and it’s great to see a lot of the skaters of that era are still involved. Everyone from Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Jeff Grosso, and Christian Hosoi were all present. Check out the footage from Shred or Die and check out Concrete Jungle for more photos.

Overall Contest Results:
1. Tony Hawk
2. Andy Macdonald
3. Bucky Lasek
4. Kevin Staab
5. Jeff Grosso
6. Christian Hosoi
7. Steve Caballero
8. Eric Nash
9. Eddie Reategui
10. Henry Gutierrez

I know that Steve Caballero is an awesome artist in so many ways. Since he was just a kid wet behind the ears and when I was still in the womb, this guy always stuck out beyond the skateboard community. Whether it was creating tricks like the Caballerial or creating punk rock music that my nose can bleed to, the guy is always creating and never fails to impress.

So when I see the title of his new show entitled “Gas, Gears & Grease”, I was thinking he was getting into a different medium of art. The title with words like Gas, Gears, and Grease reminds me of something like THIS. I thought awesome! Caballero made his first musical.

After I called up my friend to buy tickets, he told me I was an idiot. The show is actually a photography exhibit featuring different parts of a motor vehicle. The exhibit opens this Saturday, November 1st at San Jose’s Black & Brown Boutique. “Gas, Gears & Grease” will continue through December 1st. Now get into your beater and get take the drive out to San Jose.

You can tell that summer is just around the corner with many events taking place like Pro-Tec’s Pool Party taking place at the Vans Skate Park in Orange, CA. But don’t expect there to be a bunch of hot chicks in bikinis, hot dogs, and swimming. Rather look forward to an empty pool sausage fest with skateboards and skate pros like Bucky Lasek and Steve Caballero. On Saturday May 17th, all the top pool skaters will go up against each other at the Vans Skate Park. And if you can’t join the pool party, you can catch the web cast live from 1PM – 9PM on the Pro-Tec site.

Plus if you suck at skating and still feel motivated to win something, you can go for the custom Les Paul Jr. guitar autograph by the contests winner and two Warped Tour passes in the Watch 7 contest by entering at the Vans site now.
