NBC and the AST didn’t have a sense of humor about it. He was fined $5k by the FCC and asked by the AST to leave the tour (aka kicked out) according to Transworld Motocross.

Potter hasn’t been setting the tour on fire this season, missing the finals in one event and placing 8th at the Toyota Challenge, but he did place first in Best Whip at X Games Mexico last weekend.

You can see the new gloves that got him in trouble pictured here, and go to the Mulisha site for more about Potter’s latest news.

Potter had better luck in the exhibition event Moto X Best Whip. The audience voted for the winner in that event and gave Potter 39% of the vote.

Check out the official press release below for more about the night’s action.

Kyle Loza Claims Gold With the “Electric Death” in the Moto X Best Trick Final
Loza Strikes Gold for the Second Consecutive Year With a New Backflip Variation

LOS ANGELES- The excitement continued this evening as X Games 14 charged ahead with the Moto X Best Trick final. Kyle Loza defended his gold medal from last year by successfully landing another new trick, the “Electric Death”.

The new trick was a variation of a backflip that included performing a body-varial mid flip. Fans will remember Loza’s stirring win last year with his then newly- invented trick “The Volt”, which is also a variation of a backflip.

Loza scored a 94.00 on his first attempt at the “Electric Death”, and subsequently won the final with his first of two runs. He opted out of taking his second attempt after none of the other competitors were able to top his first run score.

“I pictured myself doing this trick, and am so excited I was able to pull it off here at the X Games. It was great to have my parents here to see me do it.” Loza stated after sticking the trick.

Jeremy Lusk scored just behind Loza in second place by wowing the crowd, and himself, with an over extended backflip double grab.

Todd Potter, took home the bronze with a “Kiss of Death” backflip in the Moto X Best Trick final and built on his momentum by winning the Moto X Best Whip event.

Potter won the Best Whip contest, which was judged by the fans via text message voting, with 39% of the votes. He was all smiles when he said, “Just winning one medal is a good night for me, winning two is even better.”

Among those riding were Jeremy Lusk, Twitch, Todd Potter, Takayuki Higashino and Jimmy Fitzpatrick.
