Transworld Skateboarding Presents “And Now”

Transworld Skateboarding’s 20th epic new video “And Now” is coming to a skate shop near you for its nationwide premiere. This monumental video within an eight-month time period visited basically every single place on earth. Well almost. Australia, China, Spain, South America, Hawaii, Arizona, New York, Texas, Washington, Oregon, Georgia and of course California were all visited for the filming of this highly anticipated skate movie. I was hoping Guam would be in there somewhere.

And Now features the talents of six young rising stars. No, we’re talking about the Jonas Brothers here. But you’ll witness the handrail madness of David Gravette, the lazy style of Nick Trapasso, the bionic pop of Matt Miller, the consistent textbook skating of Sean Malto, the striped pants and jaw dropping moves of Richie Jackson, and the smooth buttery style of Kenny Hoyle. Produced, edited and directed by Jon Holland and Chris Ray. You probably shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to miss this one.

The WhoTube Transworld Contest

Do you have a bunch of footage lying around? Trick that you were able to catch on video after 20 attempts? Like that pop shove-it off the five steps down your school’s cafeteria? Or how about your fakie noseslide on your friend’s homemade two-foot rail? Well you’re going to have to do better than that if you plan on winning Transworld Skateboarding’s Kenny Hoyle Payday. All you have to do is capture on video your best tricks (preferably better than those mentioned above) and upload here. If you showcase your best trick and win, you will receive some nice gear from Expedition-One, DVS, and Altamont. On top of all that, you will also get four tickets to the 10th Annual TWS Awards in Hollywood, the same city where Ryan Seacrest lives!

TWS 2008 Skater Of The Year

If you, like me, were highly unsatisfied with Thrasher’s Skater Of The Year pick for 2007 well, now’s your chance to voice your opinion in TWS 2008 Skater Of The Year by voting for your candidate. Sure MJ’s part in the Lakai video was pretty good, but my vote is for someone who hasn’t had a skate part in nearly a decade and some change. His name is Paul Higgins and he currently hosts the annual Asian X-Games.

Once part of the early 90’s X-Games crew here in the United States, his inability to name the proper tricks being performed on the skate course probably got him demoted to Asia. But Paul being the bold person that he is didn’t stop doing his job when he didn’t know what a 360 kick-flip looked like or which way the body turned in a backside 180. On the spot he was able to make up tricks like, “Hendrix just pulled an amazing grab turning flip”, or “Nice spaghetti flip over the hump there”, and for that, one must acknowledge him. And for that, I recognize Paul as the real 2008 Skater Of The Year. It’s been long overdue.
